Our nib holder in walnut features a rich brown hue and an expressive grain. It’s part of our dip pen collection, designed to be paired with our nibs sold separately.

The walnut holder belongs to our classic Nib holder range, complemented by its compact counterpart, Mini holder. We designed it to offer a comfortable writing experience regardless of hand size.

Easy to hold, easy to write with

The holder has been thoughtfully designed down to every detail, from the material to the form, to be an enduring tool and companion. After careful consideration of the perfect length for writing, we arrived at 7 inches — the same as a standard pencil — while its form maintains a balanced weight.
The light urethane coating on the surface resists stains and highlights the natural texture of wood.

In addition to the holder itself, the nib mount was also purpose-designed, made from highly durable carbon fibre to withstand repeat insertion and removal.

Honouring the character of wood

The maker behind our nib holder, Nakamura, is a workshop specialising in Kumano brushes, a traditional craft of Hiroshima Prefecture. Each nib holder is carefully crafted with techniques long nurtured amidst an abundance of nature.

Mastering wood and its varied nature is a skill reserved for artisans with an intimate understanding of its properties. The unique colour, grain and even the appearance of knots ensure every piece is subtly one of a kind.

Each holder is pure walnut in its natural form. The range of character is a true charm of this wood — we hope your unique holder will grow with you, with every use.

• Due to the nature of the material and treatment, grain and colour will vary between pieces.
• If marked with ink, wipe clean with a soft, clean cloth.
• When removing the nib from the nib holder, gently pull it out while turning to avoid dislodging the nib mount.
• After rinsing, shake well in a downward motion to remove any water or ink from the nib mount before inserting a nib.
