Our wooden pen rest was designed to complement your pen and pair effortlessly with pens of all kinds. Part of a series featuring walnut, indigo dye and lacquer, this pen rest showcases walnut’s deep brown hue and naturally expressive grain.

Simple yet considered in function, it supports the body of the pen — not just the nib — for peace of mind, even when still inked.

A sculptural form

The round shape effortlessly blends into any space, whether in use or at rest, while the asymmetrical curve ensures your pen will naturally settle without rolling away.

The gentle curve comfortably holds two to three pens in place.

Shaped and finished to showcase the natural grain, each pen rest is branded on the underside with the Kakimori logo.

From furniture offcuts to stationery

The pen rest is crafted by Wakaba Kagu, a furniture maker based in Fuchu, Hiroshima Prefecture. Since its founding in 1947, the company has been making furniture rooted in the region.

The pen rest utilises timber offcuts from furniture production, otherwise a waste material.

Initially a concept behind our nib holders, the repurposing of furniture offcuts is now a part of our pen rest production in an effort to minimise waste.

Remnants of furniture making, given new life as stationery — the design makes full use of materials while enhancing the writer’s experience.
